So I am trying to figure out how to skip Halloween.
I have referred to myself as the Halloween Grinch, but I don't think that is exactly correct. I just don't want to celebrate it in the traditional way. I don't want to open up my door and hand out candy all night. I want to play games, watch a movie, and spend time with my family. Unfortunately, my family wants to go trick or treating, and spend it with their friends.
I also cannot wait for the decorations to go away! We have a couple houses down the block that really do it up! My kids are forbidden to trick or treat at those houses. It is borderline psychotic. Why do people have to get all gruesome with their decorations? I thought monsters and ghouls were bad. Now we are adding gory and deranged?
November 1st is my birthday! Halloween sucks all the helium out of my balloons and spits out sugar hangover, grumpy kids who wake up and remember, "Oh yeah, it's Mom's birthday." Then they go rummage around what's left over in their sacks, and give me candy for my birthday. Gee! I wonder why I don't like Halloween?!

couple kids update
Gerrit was honored today in an assembly for exhibiting the schools monthly character focus. October was Helpfuless. The recess duties named Gerrit for consistantly helping put equipment away even if he didn't play with it, and being kind and respectful to others. Sven, Trevor, and I all went this morning to cheer him on! I love his school. I wish Hyrum could get get picked up this year. He is still number 3 on the waiting list.
2 More volleyball games with Rebbeka this Saturday. Hooray! I am so done with this craziness. Rebbeka has been getting frustrated with her team because there are so many who are playing because it is a fun social time. They don't care about volleyball. I was hoping Rebbeka would be able to get ready for tryouts next year, but not the way it's been going. She really could've improved a lot had she been placed on the other 6th grade team.

We're not dead!
I knew it would take me awhile between posts, but this is ridiculous!
A few updates. I had vericose vein surgery last wednesday and I'm on the mend. Took me longer than I thought, more painful than I thought. I hope it helps! I still have my left leg to go. I did have to just sit a lot and recover so I read all 4 books in the Twilight series in just 4 days! Awesome books!
Rebbeka is playing volleyball, and Sven and I are the coaches. It really is a lot of fun. Lots of time commitment though. She also has a full time job every day walking 2 dogs. She makes about 20 bucks a week. She has so much gumption!
Trevor is being homeschooled this year and Hyrum is begging to come home. We are still in the process of praying and figuring out if this is the right thing for him. I would love it though.
Carter is in 10th grade! And he is a mammoth! He is probably about 6'4" now, we'll find out today. I have to take him in to check out his injured elbow.
That leaves Gerrit who is going to a school of choice called Elk Plain! He loves it! He has to get up @ 6:30am though. I don't even get up that early! Sven gets him on the bus.
Sven has been busy with the teachers in YM, and filling in full time as coach. Plus taking care of me when he is not at work. I love this Man!
