This year was the first year we had Thanksgiving with just our immediate family. No guests, relatives, or friends. I was a bit nervous about it. Could our little family handle being together for that long with out anyone else to go off and distract themselves with? How long until they were at each other's throats? I'm happy to report that it was a successful and enjoyable day.
Sven, Carter, Trevor, and Gerrit went to a Turkey Bowl in the morning, and there weren't any major injuries. They had a great time. Meanwhile, back on the ranch... Rebbeka and I were busy preparing the food. We both donned our aprons and jumped right in. Rebbeka was excited to make and prepare all the food. She never once complained or got distracted. In fact she would complete one task and then ask what was next. She kept me hopping. Everything was going well.... and then the roaster cooking the Turkey stopped working. I had to transfer it and put it into the oven which was cooking the pumkin pie. So that didn't turn out quite right. Thankfully we had other pies as well.
Sven came home and then took Hyrum out to play Tennis becuase he was so sad that he wasn't a big enough boy to play football. When they returned, we were about ready. All the food was delicious and we had all our favorites.
Afterward, we played games and watched movies. We exposed our children to some good Kung Fu with the Forbidden Kingdom, and then we introduced them to Pee Wee Herman. They loved that movie! I am going to have to now find Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure for our home library. It is our new movie to quote incessantly.
So to sum up, Thanksgiving was a beautiful holiday and I was able to reflect on the bounty in which I live. I am such a rich Woman, and my heart is full of gratitude for my forever family.
We are looking forward to getting our Christmas tree next weekend and decorating for my favorite holiday of the year. Hopefully I will remember our camera and i can post some pics! Love to you all!
